Butterfly basics-

Can your Manta Ray describe Butterfly basics to you?
Please note the butterfly turn only applies to swimmers who are swimming 50yds; IM or 100 yds. See below. Please review with your swimmer. :)
Butterfly Start
- Dive in; arms in streamline, under water butterfly kicks (LEGS TOGETHER) mermaid like; kick until you break the surface and start Butterfly stroke.
Butterfly stroke
- Both arms reach out like a butterfly wing; both arms are pulling underwater * just like freestyle catch only difference is arms together. Again, mermaid like leg kick; legs together..
Butterfly turn
- Swim into the wall butterfly
Touch the wall with 2 HANDS!
Bend your elbows, bringing your body closer to the wall
Tuck your knees to your chest, place your feet on the wall
Turn your body to the left
Bring your right arm up toward your ear
Push off in streamline position under the water
Do a few dolphin kicks to resurface and start butterfly
Butterfly FINISH
- Swim into the wall butterfly
Touch the wall with 2 HANDS!
