1st Swim Meet now Open
Good morning, Manta Rays Parents!
Registration is Open for Oct 19th meet at ELY and will remain open until Monday Oct 14, 2024. All parents will need to please go into SwimTopia and check if your swimmer will be attending or not attending. Please note any ‘undeclared’ swimmers will automatically be categorized and not attending. * Friendly reminder; your swimmer(s) must compete in a minimum of 2 regular swim meets to attend the Championship at the end of the season.
If you are seasoned swim parent and know what events your swimmer wants to compete in, please go ahead and sign them up. Remember each swimmer can have up to 3 individual events and 2 relays. Coach Olivia and I will set the relays; no need to worry about those events. Please note the Medley Relay is events 1-10 and Freestyle Relay is 35-44; mid way thru- see events below.
Events
1-10- Medley Relays
11-22 Short Ind. Freestyle
23-34- Ind. Backstroke
35-44 Freestyle Relays
45-54 Long Ind. Freestyle
55-64 IM’s (Individual Medley) All four strokes-
65-74 Ind. Breaststroke
74-84 Ind. Butterfly
If you are new to SwimTopia and meet registration, I will be sending out individual communication on how to sign up and set your swimmer’s events for the upcoming meet. Those will be individual emails, so please be patient there are about 100 to create and sent out. Again, we have until Monday 14th.
In addition, there is always a need for parent /family volunteers, (15 and Up) please see the Jobs Sign Up button. Please note, ELY will have their own job slots; but we, the Manta Rays will still have job slots to be filled on our end to have a smooth and FUN meet.
(2) 2- Check-in Desks those parents/ family volunteers will need to be there by 2:15pm to check in our Manta Rays PRIOR to warm-up at 3pm.- those parents/ family volunteers will need to take attendance and ensure that the swimmers and parents know what events/ heats and lanes they are signed up for. This jobs is also required to inform the coaches of any absences day of meet.
Two shifts from event 1-42; then event 43-84. Yes, this year we are splitting up the jobs, into shifts! Frankly, it is unfair to the parents/ family volunteers to not share the job tasks and hold each volunteer until event 84, if unnecessary. If however, you love volunteering as a timer; and want to stay poolside until event 84; by all means, please sign up for both shifts. 😊
(4) 2 per shift- Manta Rays Staging- those parents/ family volunteers will help pre-organize our Manta Rays while they are waiting in the gym for their events; walk them to the Bullpen.
(4) 2 per shift- Manta Rays Bullpen- those parents/ family volunteers will ensure the Manta Rays; especially the lil MRs know what stroke/distance (# of laps), heat and lane they are in for each event.
(12) 6 per shift Manta Rays Timers- those parents/ family volunteers will be on the pool deck; prepare yourselves. You will get to see all of the events up close; you will be paired with a parent/family volunteer from ELY. Both timers in each lane will clock the swimmers; notate the times and pass off to runners.
(2) 1 per shift Manta Rays Computer Entry- those parents/ family volunteers; will help with the event/time entry directly from the timers. To have a smooth and fast notification on swim meet results.
Please note that not only is your volunteer efforts appreciated by all Y staff; it also gets the Manta Rays points for the swim meet. Meaning if we have all of the jobs above filled, we (Manta Rays) automatically have 26 points, as those jobs contribute to the scoring for the team.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you all for your help!
Coach Loree
